California driving record mishap by DMV
I’ve been having awful experiences with California DMV. I’ve had over 30 years of excellent driving record, not a single violation or accident. But when I moved to California in May 2008 from Texas, switching state license, my driving record suddenly got several violations, accident, and a DUI. Oddly, there was a Hispanic alias appeared in my record and I have an oriental name. After 8 months of numerous phone calls and submitting my clean Texas driving records to DMV, and so forth, I couldn’t get this resolved. Now my record got ruined, and my auto insurance premium has been hiked to more than doubled than what it should be.
I am at a dead end w.r.t. to this serious matter. I’ve heard that there have been similar mishaps happened to other people when switching to California license. Could any one please advise or help?
Thanks to all. Actually, I have submitted my Texas driving record twice to DMV’s Mandatory Action Unit as instructed by DMV’s front office. However, when I called, they never bothered to look into it. 3 days ago, I was given the phone number of a “new department” which I called today. It turned out to be a central processing department. The gentleman I spoke with actually has access to all 50 states driver’s records, he looked into it and agreed that I’ve had no violation or anything bad. However, he said that it’s still up to the MAU to process and remove all the errors. Although he asked me to send him the documents, he didn’t say how he can help, I am afraid it’ll still gets nowhere. I tried to work out with my insurance but they insisted that I have to clear out with DMV first.
Sigh…
